A bipartisan group of former members of Congress held the first of four forums on America’s long-term fiscal challenge and the November elections. Panelists agreed the nation needs to shift from the political gridlock and compromise on a bipartisan solution, which they believe is not easily attainable. Former members of Congress and high-level former government officials  came together and agreed that both parties need to come together and put a bipartisan idea on the table, which they acknowledge is a difficult task.

Robert Rubin, Secretary of the Treasury under President Bill Clinton, and former Secretary of Treasury and Secretary of State James Baker III, joined former senators Sam Nunn (D-GA) and Pete Domenici (R-NM) in an event hosted by the economic policy group, Strengthening of America—Our Children’s Future.

The project is the brainchild of former U.S. senators Sam Nunn (D-GA), Pete Domenici (R-NM), Warren Rudman (R-NH), and Evan Bayh (D-IN). Wednesday's forum took place at the Center for Strategic & International Studies (CSIS), one of the member organizations supporting the Strengthening of America project.
