    Following this Tuesday's NH Primary, South Carolina is up next with their primary set for Saturday January 21. Chad Connelly, South Carolina Republican Party Chairman joins Newsmakers to provide a preview of the primary and how the South figures into presidential politics. The South Carolina primary is often called the "first in the South," and it one of the states that ultimately ignored the RNC’s instructions that early states not hold prmaries before Feb. 1st.

  • White House Press Briefing on the Keystone XL Decision (51 min. 20 sec. - January 18, 2012)
    On Wednesday, January 18, the State Department announced it would not allow the proposed construction of the Keystone XL pipeline to move forward. The $7 billion pipeline would carry oil through six states from Canada to oil refineries on the Gulf Coast. White House Spokesman Jay Carney told reporters that "imposing an arbitrary 60-day deadline on this process would make it virtually impossible for an adequate review to take place." Congress voted late last year to require the administration to make a decision by late February about whether to allow the pipeline to proceed as planned.
  • The "State of Indian Nations" Address (1 hr. 17 min. - January 16, 2012)
    Jefferson Keel, President of the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI), delivered the annual "State of Indian Nations" Address Thursday morning, just two days after President Obama's "State of the Union" Address. Mr. Keel spoke to a live studio audience of tribal citizens and leaders, Congressional employees, federal government officials, students and advocates. Representative Tom Cole (R-OK), an enrolled member of the Chickasaw Nation, provided the Congressional response.
  • Supreme Court Releases Arguments in FCC v Fox Television (1 hr. 1 min. - January 10, 2012)
    The U.S. Supreme Court released the oral argument in FOX Television v FCC, a broadcast decency case. The high court met on Tuesday, Jan. 10, to review a 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals decision that found the FCC's indecency rules unconstitutionally vague. The case stems from the use of expletives by actresses Cher and Nicole Richie during the 2002 Billboard Music Awards, which aired on Fox.
  • Rep. Giffords Attends Candlelight Vigil on Shooting Anniversary (1 hr. 4 min. - January 8, 2012)
    Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) returns to Tucson, AZ, one year after the January 8, 2011 shooting in which she was critically wounded and six people were killed. Rep. Giffords attends an anniversary vigil at the University of Arizona. Sunday's vigil was one of several events held in Tucson to observe the tragedy in which 19 people were shot last year at a Giffords’ "Congress On Your Corner" event which took place at a shopping center in Northwest Tucson.
