Senator Baucus, ranking member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, talked about federal legislation concerning highways and transportation, including a proposed decrease in blood alcohol level to 0.08. After his prepared remarks, he took questions from the audience. Rep. Shuster, chair of the House Transportation Committee, talked about federal transportation funding and, specifically, the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act, or ISTEA. He said that as the nation continues to grow, its infrastructure is crumbling and Congress needs to act to remedy the problem. Following his prepared remarks, Rep. Shuster answered questions from the audience. close
