House Appropriations Subcommittee members heard testimony from National Drug Control Policy Director, General Barry McCaffrey, concerning the president’s 1999 budget request for the Office of National Drug Control Policy. He testified about various strategies, including more border patrol agents and better customs inspection and the public education campaign. The budget includes $449 million for the agency itself and $17.1 for all drug-related programs. close
