After a White House meeting, the president, vice president and Democratic leaders talked with reporters about tobacco legislation. President Clinton singled out the Joe Camel cigarette ads for attack and strongly encouraged Congress to pass tobacco and education legislation which would reduce teen smoking as part of a comprehensive tobacco settlement. Senate minority leader Daschle said that House Speaker Gingrich is “hinting he’s more on Joe Camel’s side.” close
