They then began to consider HR 1252, the Judicial Reform Act of 1998, a bill to modify the federal courts and certain matters. The bill concerns class-action lawsuits, cameras in courtrooms, review of state-passed referenda lawsuit settlements requiring a tax increase, assigning judges to cases & investigating judge misconduct. Several amendments were considered. Later, honor was paid to first responders for their response to a fire in the House office complex.
