Mr. Lakoff talked about his book, Max Lerner: Pilgrim in the Promised Land, published by the University of Chicago Press. The book is about Max Lerner who was a Marxist in his youth and a neoconservative in his dotage. Mr. Lakoff points out that Max Lerner embraced the sexual revolution of the '60s and 70s and the conservative politics of the '80s. He read from the book about his immigration to America and his family’s early days here. He then described Lerner’s acceptance to Yale and his struggles to be a literary critic. After his remarks, he answered questions from the audience. close
