President Clinton presented the Eleanor Roosevelt Human Rights Award on the 50th anniversary of the passage of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. President Clinton praised the work that Mrs. Clinton had done to further the cause of human rights particularly on behalf of women around the world. He also reflected on the passage of the declaration and the problems that still face the world. The awards were presented to Robert Bernstein, Betty Bao Lord, Dorothy Thomas, and Rep. John Lewis. close
