The Senate continued the impeachment trial of President Clinton with the first day of presentations by the House managers. The managers presented arguments of facts on two articles of impeachment for perjury before a grand jury and obstruction of justice. Representative Hyde presented an introduction about the background to the articles. Representative Sensenbrenner argued the background facts, while Representative Bryant talked about the importance of the president’s oath of office and the oath before the grand jury. They also urged the Senate to call witnesses to testify to the facts presented. close
