Secretary Riley reported that American reading scores are up for the three grades, fourth, eight, and twelth, for the first time in this country. He also mentioned that American children’s math and science scores have improved. He stated that there is a gap in scores between rich children and poor children. He said that the scores of high school students need to be improved and that the United States is not doing well in foreign language education. Secretary Riley commented on the concerns he has about American teachers and principals. Ms. Easton described the accomplishments of Secretary Riley and commented on the need for improvement in American education. close
