tribal funds which could not be accounted for. Committee members

said they did not blame Secretary Babbitt for the problems despite the

fact a court had cited him for contempt after he did not turn over

records. The records were not made available because they had been

contaminated by mouse droppings which could contain a hunta virus.

Secretary Babbitt explained how the Interior Department intended to

fix the problem. close
