Representatives heard testimony about the threat of wildfires in national forests released in a recent report by the General Accounting Office. The report stated that a large portion of the forest of the western United States is at an abnormally high risk of catastrophic fire. It pointed to the overaccumulation of vegetation, calling the area a “tinderbox.” close
