Mr. Elliott discussed the recent Irish Republican Army violence. On Monday July 30, Ian Gow, a British member of Parliament from Ireland and a vehement opponent of the terrorists, was killed by a car bomb. When the Irish Republican Army claimed responsibility they explained their rationale: He was a close friend of Margaret Thatcher and developed British policy towards Northern Ireland. Mr. Elliott addressed the British rule in Northern Ireland and the tension and violence there. close
