Candidates in the Rhode Island Senate race, Claudine Schneider (R) and Claiborne Pell (D) debated their positions for the second time this year. Democratic incumbent Sen. Pell talked about peace, jobs, and education as the major issues facing Rhode Island. Republican challenger Rep. Schneider prioritized the environment, senior citizen care, drugs, and white-collar crime. She recognized and thanked Sen. Pell for his 30 years of service but said it was time for new leadership in Rhode Island. close
