Lawrence Chimerine, the Senior Economic Counselor for Data Resources Inc a non-governmental distributor of economic data, commented on the deficit problem and his disappointment in proposals for Medicare and agricultural subsidies. He stated that the solution was to convert entitlement programs to means-tested programs. He also described the current recession and when the period of economic decline might end.
