Attorney General Reno announced that former Senator Danforth would conduct an independent investigation into allegations that the FBI had covered up information about the 1993 assault on the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas. Senator Danforth said that his inquiry would focus on whether officials gave false statements to previous investigators, whether government agents had actually killed people, or whether they had started or contributed to the deadly fire at the compound. After his remarks he answered questions from reporters. close
