Ruby Bridges talked to elementary school students about her book, Through My Eyes, published by Scholastic Trade. The book tells her story as the first black student in an all-white school in New Orleans in 1960. She explained about segregation at that time and how all other children in the school were kept home by their parents. She was the only student in the school for an entire year. She talked about her feelings and about the need to face difficulties with courage. She answered questions from the students. close
