Former Representatives Lee Hamilton (D-Indiana) and William Clinger (D-Pennsylvania) talked about the importance of congressional oversight of federal agencies. They focused on the role of Congress in the oversight process and their responsibility to evaluate programs, and eliminate waste, fraud and abuse. They also discussed the decline in oversight and the difficulty for oversight committees to initiate change without legislative power.
