Mrs. Clinton read from Eleanor Roosevelt’s writing on human rights and spoke about accomplishments in international human rights and the particular needs of women. Ms. Ahamdi, a refugee from Afghanistan, spoke about the oppression of women and denial of public education to her there. President Clinton mentioned the school shooting this morning in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. He spoke about the need to continue the struggle for human rights around the world. Each of the five Eleanor Roosevelt Human Rights Award winners was introduced, his or her accomplishments read, and the award presented. close
