The Senate delegation spoke to reporters after returning from a trip to the Middle East during which the delegation’s members spoke to Egyptian, Saudi Arabian, and Israeli leaders, and American troops. The members found the trip productive in gathering information for the upcoming congressional debate on U.S. policy in the Persian Gulf. Mr. Simon expressed confidence in the United States' ability to win a military conflict, but continued to support sanctions. Mr. Simon also favored a return to the troop rotation system for the U.S. military forces. close
