The committee completed its questioning of Senator DeConcini, one of the five senators under investigation for allegedly interfering with federal regulators' investigation of the financial dealings of Lincoln Savings and Loan, whose president, Charles Keating, donated sums of money to each senator’s campaign. Mr. DeConcini’s testimony was marked by complaints that the questioning was continuing beyond reason, and an accusation that Mr. Gray, head of the federal bank board in charge of investigating financial abuses by savings and loan institutions, was shifting the blame of the savings and loan crisis from his board to the five senators under investigation. close
