Secretary Bruce Babbit briefed reporters about an Interior Department report on the cause of the wildfires around Los Alamos New Mexico that started as a controlled burn set by the U.S. Forest Service. The burn, fueled by high winds and dry weather, rapidly went out of control, destroying over 200 homes and threatened the national weapons laboratory. close
