Leaders of the Human Rights Campaign spoke to reporters about Republican attitudes and policies toward gays and lesbians. They said that, while the party’s convention had made gestures toward all minorities, Republicans only made token gestures toward the community and were not willing to embrace policy issues favoring nondiscrimination in the workplace, creating higher punishments for hate crimes, or permitting recognition of domestic partnerships. Following their remarks they answered questions from reporters. close
