On the third day of the 2000 Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles, delegates paid tribute to Vietnam veterans and women serving in Congress. Members of citizen panels talked about health care and protecting America’s families. Senator Joe Lieberman (D-Connecticut), the presumptive vice presidential nominee, spoke about his commitment to tolerance, inclusiveness and progress. At the end of the session, delegates nominated Vice President Al Gore as the party’s presidential nominee. close
