On Labor Day, Governor Bush spoke at the annual Romeo Peach Festival. He charged his opponent, Vice President Gore, with not being a “straight talker” and criticized him for not agreeing to debate on two television talk shows. Among the other issues he addressed were his tax cut plan, education, and bringing honor to the presidency. Further, in order to dramatize some of his points he held up dollar bills to demonstrate how he would use a projected budget surplus. close
