Mr. Cannadine discussed his book In Churchill’s Shadow: Confronting the Past in Modern Britain, published by Oxford University Press. The book is a collection of his essays on the rise and fall of the British empire during the 19th and 20th centuries and British political and cultural figures including Prime Minister Winston Churchill, playwright Noel Coward, and Ian Fleming, author of the James Bond novels. Following his remarks Professor Cannadine answered questions from members of the audience. close
