Ambrose, a retired professor, talked about his life, his career as an historian, and his body of work. He also responded to audience comments and questions via telephone. He has written over 30 books, including biographies of soldiers and of presidents. His 1996 book Undaunted Courage about the Lewis and Clark expedition has sold over a million and a half copies. He told the story of being asked by President Dwight Eisenhower to be his biographer. He was also an editor of Eisenhower’s papers and in that way became interested in World War II. He has written extensively about the European theater of that war, including his best seller D-Day: June 6, 1944. close
