Mr. Bruns talked about his book Almost History: Close Calls, Plan B’s, and Twists of Fate in America’s Past, published by Hyperion. The book is a collection of speeches, memos, and other archival material that reveals how the government would have handled historic moments that almost -- but didn’t -- come to be such as the failure of the Apollo XI mission or of the D-Day invasion. After his remarks Mr. Bruns answered questions from the audience. close
