This program takes a look at instant books -- timely books that are published quickly -- and the steps involved in publishing such a book. One such instant book is Deadlock: The Inside Story of America’s Closest Election, an account of the 2000 presidential election. The book was written by the political staff of the Washington Post and is being published by PublicAffairs in early March. Various interviews follow the book through the publishing process, from its conception, to the writing and editing and, finally, the production and printing phases in Crawfordsville, Indiana. close
