Secretary King answered questions from reporters on events in the Persian Gulf war after meeting with U.S. Secretary of Defense Cheney and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Colin Powell. Secretary King, who also met with President Bush and Vice-President Quayle, emphasized the strength of the U.S.-British military operation, and would not state the date of a possible ground attack by coalition forces in the Persian Gulf war. He said he felt the allied forces had “a way to go” before starting a ground attack with a minimal number of casualties. close
