Bill Sloan discussed his book I Watched a Wild Hog Eat My Baby!: A Colorful History of Tabloids and Their Cultural Impact, published by Prometheus Books. The book reviews the history of the National Enquirer from mainstream publication in the early 1960s to its current tabloid format. Citing recent tabloid headlines, Mr. Sloan asserts his belief that the line between mainstream and tabloid journalism is blurred. In his talk he retraced his path from feature writer with the Dallas Times Herald to Managing Editor with the National Enquirer, the Globe and other tabloids. Mr. Sloan read some excerpts from his book and then answered questions from members of the audience. close
