John Whitehead talked about his book, Grasping for the Wind: The Search for Meaning in the 20th Century, published by Zondervan Publishing. He said that all societies search for meaning and in doing so ask three fundamental questions: What Are We? Where Do We Come From? Where Are We Going? He suggests that the methods employed to answer these questions in the past influence how they are addressed in the present. An analysis of Western civilization in the 20th century, the book examines the changing concepts of religion, philosophy, sociology, psychology and the arts. After his prepared remarks he answered questions from members of the audience. close
