The authors participated in a discussion of the Rosenberg spy case and the death penalty in the Cold War era. Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were tried and convicted of conspiring to steal atomic secrets for the Soviet Union in 1951 and were executed for their crimes two years later. Sergei Kostin is an expert on Russian spy affairs and co-author of The Man Behind the Rosenbergs. This memoir, dictated by Alexander Felisov, details Feklisov’s career as the Russian KGB case officer who handled Julius Rosenberg and other Americans supplying classified military information. Sam Roberts is the author of The Brother: The Untold Story of Atomic Spy David Greenglass and How He Sent His Sister, Ethel Rosenberg, to the Electric Chair. He examined the previously unknown Russian side of the Rosenberg spy case.
