The first lady participated in a discussion with high school students about American civic values and their compatibility with other cultures. 

Justice Kennedy developed the program that he called the nation’s first “Dialogue on Freedom” to help schoolchildren understand the values of a

democratic society in light of the September 11 attacks. Justice Kennedy and the American Bar Association hoped the event would launch a broad give-and-take among students, parents, lawyers and judges around the country. close
