A C-SPAN crew visited the U.S. Army Reserve’s 310th Chemical Company as they trained for a probable deployment to Salt Lake City, Utah for biological warfare surveillance at the Winter Olympic Games. The 310th is one of only 2 companies in the U.S. Army tasked with providing biological warfare surveillance. The equipment they use, Biological Integrated Detection Systems (BIDS) are the same type of equipment that was stationed around the Pentagon to monitor the air there for potential biological agents released by terrorists groups. The 310th was called up from reserve to active duty in response to terrorist attacks on September 11. close
