Mr. Mallon read from and discussed his book, Mrs. Paine’s Garage and the Murder of John F. Kennedy, published by Pantheon Books. His book is the true story of Ruth Hyde Paine, the woman who was a friend and neighbor to JFK’s assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald, and his family. Mrs. Paine was a housewife living in suburban Dallas in 1963 when she and her husband Michael met the Oswalds and offered them shelter in the Paine’s garage. She eventually became so close to the Oswalds that she was one of the Warren Commission’s most important witnesses. Having extensively interviewed Mrs. Paine forty years after November 22, 1963, Thomas Mallon said that his book is a bystander’s approach to the assassination of John F. Kennedy. After his presentation he answered questions from members of the audience. close
