Abbey Chikane talked about establishing standards for the import and export of rough diamonds in an attempt to control the sale of “blood diamonds” from rebel forces in African countries and elsewhere. He answered questions from members of the audience. Mr. Chikane is also chairman of the Kimberley Process, a negotiating group of 37 countries, the European Union, and the diamond industry. close
