Secretary Cheney thanked the group for their support of Operation Desert Storm. He spoke of how Iraq’s scud attacks on Israel affected the war. He called America’s relationship with Israel during the past few months “perhaps as close as it has ever been in the more than four decades of our relationship.” He talked about the future of Israel in relation to the historic hostilities in the region. Secretary Cheney will be leaving for the Middle East in a few days to work on peace negotiations. This will be his first visit to Israel. close
