Mr. Gerolymatos discussed his book, The Balkan Wars: Conquest, Revolution and Retribution from the Ottoman Era to the Twentieth Century and Beyond, published by Basic Books. It’s a history of warfare in the Eastern European region beginning with conflict between the Serbians and the Ottomans in 1389 up to the NATO bombing of Serbia. Professor Gerolymatos talked about the importance of the area throughout history, including the critical role it played in the defeat of the Central Powers in the First World War. He also explained the current problems facing the Balkans and the stability provided by Greek business investment. Professor Gerolymatos answered questions following his talk. close
