In a forum is titled, “The Ash Heap of History: President Reagan’s Westminster Address 20 Years Later,” participants marked the twentieth anniversary of the address in which President Reagan challenged Communist powers on moral grounds, saying they would eventually be defeated by individual liberty, representative government and the rule of law.

This first panel addressed the topic “The Making and the Meaning of the Address,” and talked about the reasons behind the speech, its timing, and writing the speech. Following their remarks they answered questions from the audience. close
