During a hearing of the Senate Banking Committee, Alan Greenspan, Chairman of the Federal Reserve, testified about the state of the U.S. economy saying that the economy was fundamentally sound and might soon return to a period of sustained healthy growth. He also talked about corporate accountability, criticizing many corporate executives for manipulating earnings reports, engaging in fraudulent accounting practices, and allowing “an infectious greed” to contaminate the business community. close
