Mr. Sells discussed his translation of Muslim scriptures titled Approaching the Qu’ran: The Early Revelations, published by White Cloud Press. The book translates the early suras, the short, hymn-like chapters at the end of the book that are related to the first revelations of the Prophet Muhammad. In addition, opposite each sura is a brief explanation of the context and some of the intricacies of the passages, and a glossary that explains key concepts and Arabic terms. A compact disc of recordings by renowned Qu’ranic reciters chanting the suras is included with the book. A question and answer period followed Professor Sells' remarks. close
