Author Doug Wead speaks to his book All The Presidents' Children: Triumph and Tragedy in the Lives of America’s First Families, published by Atria Books. Mr. Wead is a former special assistant to George H.W. Bush. During the 1988 election he worked under George W. Bush. After the Bush victory Mr. Wead wrote a report on the lives of presidential children for the eldest son of the new president-elect. His study concluded that there appeared to be a higher than average rate of divorce, alcoholism, and premature death among the lives of children who’s fathers were U.S. Presidents. Mr. Wead discussed effect of his report on George W. Bush and told stories about the children of many presidents. close
