Author Roy Foster discussed his book The Irish Story: Telling Tales and Making It Up in Ireland, published by Oxford University Press. In the book, Professor Foster challenges the popular stories and romantic tales that have come to represent Irish history. During the conversation, Professor Foster critiques Frank McCourt’s Angela’s Ashes, the movie The Commitments, and recent commemorations of the Irish potato famine.
