Author Tony Horwitz talked about his book Blue Latitudes: Boldly Going Where Captain Cook Has Gone Before, published by Henry Holt and Company. In this book he follows the path of one of the last true voyages of discovery, which was one of the first that was not an expedition of conquest but of science. Author Les Standiford talked about his book Last Train to Paradise: Henry Flagler and the Building of the Railroad that Crossed the Ocean, published by Crown. According to the Mr. Standiford, the building of the Key West extension was an engineering marvel but it was also a grandiose scheme with a human cost that faced an even bigger challenge when a devastating hurricane came to town.
