Mr. Sulzberger and Mr. Raines talked about the editorial and business philosophies of The New York Times in a discussion led by Mr. Schell and Mr. Danner. They discussed how decisions are made about foreign affairs coverage, how that coverage has been adapted to the post-September 11 world, and how the newspaper influences American attitudes about the country’s role in the world.

This event, “Setting the Agenda: The New York Times and America’s View of the World,” is the inaugural event of the Goldman Forum on the Press and Foreign Affairs. Professor Danner is the director of this new series of lectures, dialogues and scholarship. close
