Mr. Sulzberger and Mr. Raines talked about the editorial and business philosophies of The New York Times in a discussion led by Mr. Schell and Mr. Danner. They discussed how decisions are made about foreign affairs coverage, how that coverage has been adapted to the post-September 11 world, and how the newspaper influences American attitudes about the country’s role in the world.
