The reporters discussed three areas of activity in national politics this week. The first was the sudden death of Sen. Heinz (R-PA). A replacement has not yet been announced Governor Casey. The Democratic governor can choose to either do nothing, fill the seat with a purposely temporary replacement, or appoint a Democrat who would run in the November election. The Republicans, though, see Heinz’s vacated seat as a seat which should be filled by a Republican. This week, both parties outlined their budget priorities. Both center around the debate over America’s domestic agenda. Mr. Stoffer described it as “fighting over the margins.” A clip was shown of Rep. Schroeder (D-CO) speaking on the floor this week. Finally, the panelists discussed the start of the 1992 presidential campaigns. close
