Mr. Hall spoke to reporters in the Pentagon on matters relating to the Department of Defense. He related the troop numbers currently in the Persian Gulf, and said sparse exchange of gunfire continued between Iraqi rebels and the Iraqi army, which is not hindering the international relief efforts for the Iraqi refugees in northern Iraq. Mr. Hall discussed the U.S. military’s role in the refugee relief effort, and outlined the procedure by which the U.S., British, and French militaries are creating livable facilities for the refugees. Operation Provide Comfort has provided over 1,340 tons of supplies to the freezing and starving refugees in northern Iraq since the beginning of the effort April 7. close
