Mr. Holmberg talked about his book, Dear Brother: Letters of William Clark to Jonathan Clark, published by Yale University Press. Mr. Holmberg, who edited the book, compiled 54 letters that William Clark sent to his older brother Jonathan and numerous other family members during the course of his travels. Topics covered in the letters include Clark’s role in the newly acquired Louisiana Territory, his time in the Army, his slave York who was the first slave to cross the United States, as well as Merriwether Lewis' suicide. Mr. Holmberg answered audience members' questions. close
