America's Promise

Barbara Harrison joined Alma Powell, wife of Secretary of State Colin Powell, in a conversation about her latest children’s book, America’s Promise, published by HarperCollins. In addition to discussing her book, Mrs. Powell talked about the America’s Promise organization and the five promises at the heart of its mission -- caring adults, safe places, a healthy start, marketable skills, and opportunities to serve -- to inspire all to make America a better place for our children. Mrs. Powell is donating all of her royalties for this book to America’s Promise -- The Alliance for Youth. She also shared anecdotes about growing up in Alabama, her family and her life as a military wife and answered questions from members of the audience. close
